Miva Merchant 4.x is a dynamic browser-based shopping cart system that makes building and managing a powerful Internet
shopping cart as easy as point and click. This next generation release includes features that make it even easier for merchants to setup their storefronts, add products, and attract new customers. New features of this latest release include:
- Affiliate Program – Merchants can now build their own affiliate network and attract new customers to their storefront. This new features makes it easy to control commissions paid to affiliates for both sales and click-thrus. Merchants may choose to have your affiliates added automatically or with administrative approval. Additionally, merchants and affiliates both have access to payout reports for tracking program performance.
- Inventory Tracking – This new feature allows merchants to track inventory levels for all the products in their stores. Customers know exactly when a product is in stock, out of stock, or running low with point-of-purchase messages and email notifications. Merchants can manage inventory levels and notices for their entire store or for specific items.
- Simple Administration – Miva Merchant’s easy-to-use wizards are now even easier. Now one wizard manages the complete storefront configuration and displays progress to completion so that Merchants know exactly where they are during each step in the process. More experienced merchants can quickly switch between advanced and simple mode administrative interfaces.
- Attribute Templates – Merchants may now assign similar attributes such as color, size, and weight, to multiple products and easily change attributes globally by updating these new templates. Product attributes may be imported and modified for each product without affecting the template.
- Site Traffic and Sales Statistics - Now Merchants can instantly know how many customers have visited their store and how much they have spent. This useful new feature makes it easy to track store traffic and help merchants make smarter inventory and promotional decisions.

Database Management
Thousands of categories and products can be maintained in Miva Merchant without
sacrificing performance. The database architecture of the system provides for instant
organization and fast product search while maintaining complete compatibility with other
systems. You can use dozens of different database management tools to access Miva Merchant
xBase compatible data files.
Cross Platform
All application and database files used by Miva Merchant are 100% cross platform.
Merchants can protect their investment in catalog development if they have to switch to a
different architecture. Also, Miva Merchant can be used with Miva Mia, the free personal
version of the Miva Engine, providing a complete offline development environment.
Existing Site Integration
Merchants who have already a built site in HTML can simply hyperlink directly into the
Miva Merchant system. All of the Storefront functionality such as product lookup, category
presentation, shopping basket, and order forms can be accessed as a component of an
existing HTML-based web site.
Security
All sensitive data can be encrypted with SSL prior to transmission including order
information both during the customer ordering process and subsequently during order
processing. Multiple layers of login permissions allow a centralized manager the ability
to grant store level permissions to different developers and merchants.
Online Help
New users can operate Miva Merchant in the novice mode with detailed prompting information
about each field and overall information about screen usage. Expert users can toggle
between prompt mode and silent mode for power editing.
